Cumberland Furniture Solitaire “setting” detail

The picture above is a detail from a product line called Solitaire. The product designer . Ini Archibong, loved the concept of the metal furniture frame being elegant and sculptural like a ring setting for a solitaire diamond. If you notice in the image above, all the outside has a high lustre finish, the inside is raw. It loos like someone pulled apart the legs to create the opening in the middle, and because it is pulled apart, the finish must be raw.

Most people do not give the small details much thought. I think it is the difference between furniture and a piece of art. It is the difference between something ordinary and something you want to own, need to have around you. I love the amount of passion this man has for the details. I am his number one fan.
